Most modern computers have the ability to take a screenshot without extra software needed. Pictures are worth a thousand words, and quality pictures of your issue can help us troubleshoot in a quicker manner. The scope of this document is to show how to take a picture with your computer. This way it can be attached to troubleshooting tickets.
NOTE: When taking a picture, please try and capture the URL of the page we're on. This way we can make sure we're on the same page that is having the issue.
Windows Vista and Windows 7 both have a piece of software called the "Snipping Tool". To get this, you will want to open your start menu and go to All Programs > Accessories > Snipping Tool. Or type the name "Snipping Tool" in the search box. Upon opening the snipping tool, the screen dims and an icon shows up. When the screen dims like this, you can drag and drop your cursor in a rectangle around the item you're want to grab.
Now that you have the area selected, a window will appear with the selection you made inside it. Save the picture to whatever location you'd like, and attach the picture to your ticket.
An alternate method is to take a screenshot and save it as a file. Press the Windows logo key +PrtScn. Or, if you're using a tablet, press the Windows logo button + the volume down button. The screen will dim for a moment and saves as a file in the Screenshots folder (located in your Pictures folder).
Press Command + Shift + 3 to take a picture of the entire screen, or Command + Shift + 4 to take a picture of part of the screen. If you choose to take a picture of part of the screen, you'll notice the mouse arrow changes into a pair of crosshairs. Click and drag the mouse corner to highlight the area you'd like to take a screenshot. After highlighting the area, let go of the button. The picture should be sitting in a .png format on your desktop. Attach the picture to the support ticket.
